Donkey and cricket

A donkey saw a cricket walking cheerfully on the pasture.
"I also walk on the pasture," thought the donkey.

He saw the cricket eating grass leaves.
"I also eat grass leaves," thought the donkey.

Then he saw the cricket rub one leg against the other and make noise.
So he rubbed one leg against the other and it also made noise, making the donkey increasingly convinced of his theory.

Then he saw the cricket jump.
The donkey jumped, and lo and behold, he covered a great distance.
"Clearly, I am a cricket," thought the donkey.

The cricket then took a low flight to cross a low ravine.
The donkey followed, wagging his tail and showing his conviction.
He fell down there, and became bruised for quite some time.

Moral of the story: Emulating others without understanding what makes them unique can be dangerous.
